Cantor’s Next Gig, Part Two

Alrighty folks, it’s time to call this thing.

Last month, after Eric Cantor’s (to many) surprising upset in the Virginia primary race, we asked you all what you thought he would do next after leaving office. We got a pretty impressive array of responses, and we highlighted some of our favorites here.

We also got some seriously bizarre entries, and a lot of puns. (We’re looking at you, Kelby Archer, for “Hires ghostwriter to pen a tell-all about his primary loss, The Cantor-Buried Tales.”)

Anyway, since then, Cantor has packed up his office, he’s made his last speech in the House, and we’ve even got some news updates on how and when Cantor’s staff will hand over the login info for the @GOPLeader Twitter account.

We still don’t actually know what Cantor’s next gig (#CantorsNextGig) will turn out to be, but it’s not fair to keep you in suspense any longer when there are free Baffler subscriptions at stake.

So, out of the cream of the crop, we’ve chosen two winners. The probably-most-accurate prize goes to Matt Welch, whose answer on our Facebook page was “Wall Street lobbyist, author, occasional Fox News contributor, and guest lecturer at small conservative college.”

And the prize for cleverest response goes to Maureen Miller, for “Throwback DC hardcore 7″ record ‘Young Guns’ about his days at GW ft. Fred Armisen and Dave Grohl (as Crisis of Conformity).”

(Incidentally, a close runner-up was Catherine Tumber, for her response “Who cares?” – but she’s on our masthead, so she probably already has a subscription.)

Congrats to Matt and Maureen!
